PreviousNext

Peter Block, author of “Flawless Consulting”, admits that while flawless consulting may sound presumptuous, his underlying value is that every consultant and client has the possibility of perfection, and our obligation is to allow the flawless professional to emerge for both parties. The science of organizational tools and techniques offers the potential for client success;, the art of applying those tools with a consultant’s healthy thinking and authentic client relationship ensures flawless success.

Our Approach to Consulting

High Performance ModelIn a nutshell, the consultant’s objective is to engage the organization in successful actions that result in the organization’s future self-management. Therefore our goals include (1) establishing a collaborative relationship with our clients, (2) solving problems so that they stay solved, and (3) ensuring attention is given to both the technical or business problem AND the relationship between consultant and client. Our approach is to focus on individuals, relationships, and practices to achieve higher performance by leadership, project teams, or organizations.

We call this approach the “High Performance Foundation Model”.

The Power of a Humble Question

Real Help via Humble Inquiry

We believe that humble inquiry is a key to building and maintaining an authentic helping relationship. Comprised of both a helper’s attitude and behavior, humble inquiry is about the consultant’s attitude and behavior in “accessing one’s ignorance” and becoming open to what the consultant and the client can learn from each other via genuine empathetic questioning, generous listening, and suspending judgment.  Given the ever increasing complexity of business models, organizations, large-system innovation, interdisciplinary dispersed teams, and global stakeholders, humble inquiry is critical in developing a coherent framework for future business opportunities.

Framing – The Art of Genuine Curiosity

Framing is the very first step in the engagement process, before we are officially invited to support your organization.  Framing is about generous listening, humble inquiry, asking beautiful questions, and beginning with a solid strategic framework. The role of the consultant is not to solve problems, nor to come up with ‘the solution’. The role of the consultant is to ask good questions to help the client and organization to discover possibilities, solve problems, and create a new and powerful future.

The Benefit of an Authentic Consultant

Being Authentic.

Authentic behavior means that the consultant puts into words what they are experiencing with the client. We tell you what you need to know, without manipulation, without sugar-coating, and without blind agreement. Authentic behavior will drive us to tell you when we sense a lack of trust, effort, commitment, or engagement in our shared relationship. We are considerate of our clients as people and leaders, and that consideration includes doing our best to ensure client success. Flawless consulting at its best.
